Fight the Holiday Sit!

It is the most wonderful time of the year, but it is also a wonderful time to keep moving your body!
The holidays are when we become the most sedentary, which is pretty much one of the worst things for our health. Our bodies are made to MOVE!
This month is no exception. Though I will be the first to admit I love a good snuggly spot and blankie and those times are still important. But the holiday season we need to fight the holiday sit!
I know it’s hard to stay active when you feel you have an excuse to lie around all day. And by all means, take time to rest and relax. But just remember, the more you sit now, the harder it will be to get and stay active when the holidays end. A body in motion stays in motion.
Be prepared and have a plan to stay on track with your workouts! If you’re at home, then schedule your workouts for when it works best with the more unpredictable schedule. Treat it as an important appointment, because it is! I love a latte in the afternoon or a good hot cup of tea.
Even if you are away from home, in today’s tech world, there is really no excuse for not sticking to your workouts. If you are following any type of program, you can stream that from wherever you are. Use resistance bands instead of dumbbells or choose an equipment-free workout. Find some space, make the time and make it work! There are lots of free youtube videos or use the Shaklee 180 exercise videos created by Olympic Athletes.
Even if you don’t follow a program, there are plenty of opportunities to get a good sweat in. Go to the hotel gym or pool, go for a walk or jog around the neighborhood you’re staying at. Pull up a free workout video or something on Pinterest to follow. Sure, it’s not as effective as a full program, but it’s better than nothing!
